I hope everyone is hanging on with everything going on in the wrestling world again this week.
I wanted to discuss some things going on in wrestling. First of all the speaking out movement. I see all you brave women and I stand with you. Last week I shared my story and you can read that if you haven’t in my previous post. Another topic I want to discuss which has really broke my heart is a former interview with Sammy from AEW from 4 years ago surfaced. He jokes about wanting to r*** Sasha Banks due to her good looks. To me this will never be a joke and we have to show our men that these jokes and words are not tolerated in our society. With all that said I want to share how inspired, happy and proud I am of Sasha Banks putting a post out about how none of this is accepted and we need to do better in this world. Truly a strong women, changing the world. As proud as I am of Sasha Banks I am disappointed in the wrestlers and wrestling community. If this was Bliss, Lacey or Charlotte socials would be flooding with support. I want not only women’s wrestlers to have a safe place and the courage to speak out but black women to have support in this industry. For far too long not only in wrestling but in this society of America black women are forgotten and never get the respect, love and support that they deserved. We saw it when Trinity was attacked on social media for her royal rumble comeback. This is just one thing I have to say about Chelsea Green and women that feel the way she did. Yes it’s messed up if fans are flooding your mentions and DM’s with you need to say something but replying with I don’t have to say anything, not everything I feel I post online. Yes I agree to that to a certain extent but if you aren’t using your voice, you are the problem. You don’t only use your voice when it affects you and those closest to you, you use it because it’s your platform and you have a decent following. It’s the only way we will change as a society.
Most of Smackdown was dedicated to the Undertaker because of the Corona outbreak in the WWE. I enjoyed Sasha and Bayley on commentary, but that was about it. In my opinion Smackdown was a weak show, but obviously due to the circumstances cannot blame them.
I’ve been seeing alot of people enjoying Raw the last couple weeks but for me the only star power I have seen is Sasha and Bayley. With Charlotte out for a little bit, I’m sure we will see even more of Sasha and Bayley. For me Asuka’s run so far along with Drews has been stale. I’m waiting for that good story, that huge superstar and I just don’t feel it yet. Charlotte is great, but I do feel her away for a little bit with give us a women a chance to shine and be put in that spot. I enjoyed Edge and Randy Orton’s promo’s a lot, but at the same time where do we go from here with Edge injured. It may seem too soon but I would put the belt on Randy as soon as possible. WWE really just needs something that sets them apart and gives us that big superstar, big show feel again.
I enjoyed parts of AEW this week. First thing is I always enjoy watching the Revival. They are incredible and I can only hope AEW can make their tag team division good. It has been my major disappointment with WWE. The women’s division in AEW isn’t there yet for me, but I’m willing to be patient. I do have to say not much happened in the show but I absolutely loved Sonny Kiss and Joey’s segment together, I want to see more of them. It was done so well!
My favorite wrestling show of the week was NXT. I loved Dakota Kai in action and the women’s tag division is getting good. Would love to see Sasha and Bayley over there more too. They are hyping up Adam Cole and Keith Lee very well. I could see Cole dropping the title for ratings but I could also see Keith Lee on Raw or Smackdown very soon here.
Everyone take care, be safe, wear your masks and try to enjoy the simple things. We will get through this.
